# Obscurity

> Obscurity is a senior analytics governance advisory practice for regulated organisations. When the regulator asks who authorised that tracking, the answer cannot be "an AI agent." We provide insurance, fintech, and energy boards with the evidence and control to demonstrate ongoing accountability over what their digital estate ships - even as code agents and release velocity outpace manual governance.

Obscurity is the operator brand, led by Dónal Troddyn (Founder & Principal, 15+ years in regulated-sector analytics governance). ConsentMark (https://www.consentmark.com) is the product platform we run on behalf of clients; the judgement is ours.

Why now: the DPC's final decision against IAB Europe (May 2022, confirmed on appeal in 2025) made clear that TCF banner deployments across regulated estates need controller-level evidence the CMP itself cannot provide. Combined with autonomous coding tools changing tracking surfaces faster than manual review can keep up, regulated organisations need independent attestation of what is actually deployed.

We provide evidence and senior judgement to support controllers in demonstrating ongoing control. We do not provide guaranteed legal compliance, regulator endorsement, or substitute for in-house DPO / legal counsel. Controllers remain accountable under Article 5(2) GDPR.
